Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your safari begins with a morning departure from Nairobi as you travel towards Amboseli National Park in southern Kenya. The journey takes you away from the city and into the changing landscapes of the Kenyan countryside.

Upon arrival in Amboseli, begin your first game drive through the park. Known for its large elephant populations and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli offers an impressive introduction to Kenya's wildlife.

Explore the open plains and seasonal wetlands, keeping an eye out for elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and a variety of bird species. The combination of abundant wildlife and dramatic mountain scenery makes the park particularly rewarding for photography.

Continue exploring the park into the afternoon before returning for the evening and relaxing after your first day in the wilderness.

Day 2: Full-Day Amboseli National Park

Spend the entire day exploring Amboseli with extended game drives across the park.

Begin early when wildlife is often most active and the morning light creates beautiful views across the plains. Visit different areas of the park and explore the wetlands, grasslands and open savannah in search of wildlife.

Elephants are one of Amboseli's main attractions, and you may encounter large herds moving between feeding areas and water sources. Other possible sightings include lions, cheetahs, buffalo, hippos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and numerous bird species.

Take time to appreciate the scenery as well as the wildlife, with Mount Kilimanjaro providing an impressive backdrop whenever weather conditions allow clear views.

Continue with an afternoon game drive before concluding your second day in Amboseli and returning for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Amboseli to Maasai Mara

After breakfast, leave Amboseli and begin your journey towards the Maasai Mara.

The drive takes you through changing landscapes and rural communities as you make your way towards southwestern Kenya. Along the route, enjoy views of the countryside and experience the transition from the distinctive environment of Amboseli to the rolling landscapes surrounding the Mara.

Upon arrival in the Maasai Mara region, begin your introduction to this renowned wildlife destination with an afternoon game drive, depending on your arrival time.

Explore the open grasslands as you search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, gazelles and predators. The late afternoon can be particularly rewarding as wildlife becomes more active in the cooler conditions.

Continue exploring until the end of the day's game-drive experience before settling in for the evening.

Day 4: Full-Day Maasai Mara Game Drive

Today is dedicated entirely to discovering the Maasai Mara.

Set out early for a game drive across the reserve while the savannah is cool and wildlife activity is high. Your guide will help you search for some of the Mara's most famous residents, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and other plains game.

The open landscape provides excellent visibility, allowing you to observe animals in their natural surroundings and appreciate the relationships between predators, herbivores and the wider ecosystem.

Continue exploring different sections of the reserve throughout the day, stopping at suitable locations to appreciate the scenery and take photographs.

If your safari coincides with the Great Migration season, the Mara may also offer opportunities to see large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra. The timing and location of the herds depend on seasonal rainfall and natural migration patterns.

Continue with an afternoon game drive before returning for the evening after a full day in the Mara wilderness.

Day 5: Maasai Mara – Extended Wildlife Exploration

Enjoy another full day of wildlife exploration in the Maasai Mara, giving you more time to discover areas that may not have been covered during your previous game drives.

Begin with an early morning drive and continue searching for wildlife across the expansive grasslands. This additional day allows for a more relaxed safari experience, with time to observe animal behaviour and explore different habitats.

Depending on the day's sightings, you may encounter prides of lions resting or hunting, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants moving through the grasslands, or large herds of zebra and wildebeest grazing across the savannah.

The Mara is also home to numerous smaller species, including antelopes, warthogs, jackals and a wide range of birdlife, making every game drive different.

Continue into the afternoon for another opportunity to explore the reserve. As the sun begins to lower over the savannah, enjoy the changing scenery and the atmosphere of the African wilderness before concluding your final full day in the Mara.

Day 6: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

Wake up to your final morning in the Maasai Mara and prepare for one last opportunity to experience the reserve.

Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy an early morning game drive as you make your way out of the park. The cooler morning hours can provide excellent opportunities for final wildlife sightings, with animals often active before the heat of the day sets in.

Keep watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators as you make your way through the Mara. Take in the final views of the rolling grasslands before leaving this remarkable ecosystem behind.

Continue your journey towards Nairobi, enjoying the changing scenery along the way. Upon arrival in Nairobi, your six-day Amboseli and Maasai Mara safari comes to an end, bringing together unforgettable wildlife encounters, dramatic landscapes and memorable moments in the Kenyan wilderness.
